    Re: Photo-a-day

    question: is it worth shooting in RAW mode? or stick with the usual jpeg mode? im off to paris this weekend so i need all the advice i can get lol. still using the crappy stock lens that came with the 400d

    Also, how do i know what Apperture settings you guys used in the pics in this thread? i heard their is a firefox plugin for it?

    Re: Photo-a-day

    Shoot Raw if you are going to enlarge your pics and foe better quality, if not stick to Jpeg to save card space. If space is not an issue stick to Raw. Happy shooting.

    Generally, RAW files give you more flexibility with exposure - you can alter the exposure etc in post processing without affecting IQ as much as you would if it was a JPEG.

    Also, RAW files have a greater dynamic range than JPEG iirc? Not sure about this, but I know that it is possible to create a psuedo-HDR pic from a single RAW file. So if you're shooting a scene with lots of contrast that's hard to expose, switch to RAW, do your best to expose properly, and correct afterwards if needed.

    As for the Firefox plugin, just search for something that allows you to see the EXIF data on photos

    Re: Photo-a-day

    great shot VM bit of PS and that could look like a mystical realm

    JPG = little recovery for underexposed shot, no recovery for overexposed shot (blown)
    RAW = 2 stops+ recovery for overexposed

    shot from a while ago

    I think it's across a few days but the peak is going to be tonight. It's currently overcast here. I saw a few last night, though.
