Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Seeing as I got my Desire offline, and my contract is up I rang O2 and asked what they could do. In the end I got a 1 month rolling contract with 600mins (rarely go over that) 1200 texts (yup will do me!) unlimited Internets, voicemail and roaming for £20 each month. Not bad considering I have been paying over £40 a month for stuff.

I can upgrade my tariff whenever I want should a phone come out I like, but the lady I chatted to said a lot of people were now buying phones offline and then taking out his kind of deal, then trading them in 8 months down the line for a newer handset. Me being a must have the latest gadget geek am thinking of doing this anyways. So it all suited me. Plus I kept my number, SIM and didn't have to go down the PACS route.

Being roped into 18/24 mo contracts is ludicrous for me. I understand people what a 'free' phone or to pay less up front, but I like to have the latest thing.

But I do this AND have all the latest gadgets. Just because they give you one phone, doesn't mean that's what you have to use...

I bought my own Nexus One for example, in 6 months my upgrade it due and they'll give me a free phone I can sell to fund my next gadget

Just ordered mine. Went for the Black edition, on Orange (Dolphin 35). 24 months, 800mins, unlimited text, £30pm + 10% NHS discount. Orange Care for £1pm.

    Sorted

Cool, the black one came today for my house mate (although I already got the Legend for her, very nice) and it does look very good. You wont be disappointed.

My thoughts on the Desire vs Nexus One - http://www.andycr15.co.uk/

They have to be the best 2 devices on the UK market at the moment.

True, but then you are still paying for the phone you had when you took out the contract in the first place.

But I'm paying £20 a month, which would be hard for me to get any cheaper without a phone I would think.

You should get a good price on Ebay for the Desire, people are nuts over this phone. Loving it myself, but then I never had a similar device to compare against, its so much better than my Touch Pro, I thought I might miss a physical keyboard but that hasn't proved to be the case.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Well, I have 3 people at work after them. I'm asking for £320 and £330 for the black, both will be unlocked. I could perhaps get more, but I'm generally looking to just cover my costs.

Seems a reasonable price looking at ebay, at least you save on fees Isn't the black one only just out though?

If you put this next to the IPhone (First gen) what would be better?

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

My opinion would be this is better than any other phone out there right now (except maybe the Nexus One )

Granted, the iPhone App store is bigger, but Androids Market is catching up rapidly.

to be honest I never use the app store (my Iphone is hacked so I can't be bothered to update the firmware)

Does this have 3G for some reason I can't seem to find it in the spec

Just said I wasn't too keen on the £6 a month she wanted, she was like "ok, how about £1". Naturally I bit her hand off

What, as in the connection speed? Are you even allowed to release a phone these days that's only 2G?

Yes, it goes up to 3G+. (Is that HSDPA or something?)
