Can't you just export contacts from Gmail?
Okay, just got off the phone with HTC, as there is only one dead pixel they won't fix the phone. Apparently there needs to be a minimum of 4.
I'm a bit annoyed really because my £450 phone is now worth about £100 after just under two months...
That's not good, but as I work in electronic retail I can tell you it happens all the time. What you need to discern is if it is a lit or a dead pixel. Dead will appear black whilst lit will generally appear blue or white. If the pixel is constantly lit then it is a fault with the unit, if it is a dead pixel then it can be down to accidental damage so they generally don't cover it. On larger screens there has to be a minimum of 3 in the viewable area of a screen for them to consider it an actual fault, however we have replaced tv's within the manufacturer's period that only have 1 lit pixel.
On a side note I just received my Case-Mate 'Barely There' rubberised hard cover for my Desire and it is absolutely fantastic. Feels great in the hands and does not obstruct the function of the phone what so ever. Does only provide minimal coverage to the front but honestly I am sick of the bulk that comes with rubberised cases!

I see, thanks. The pixel is actually pink, and so lit. This could get interesting. I've e-mailed carphone warehouse earlier telling them that it is unacceptable because they told me it was indeed a phone fault and they'd send it away. I only discovered it wasn't considered a fault when HTC were just about to arrange to collect it when a colleague(at HTC) overheard the conversation the woman was having with me and said that it has to be 4 or more...
Make sure you are very specific about the fact that it is a lit pixel, not a dead pixel, and therefore a manufacturing fault. I would tell them you are colour blind and you aren't sure what colour it is lol As I recall it's the pink and red ones that they see as a fault rather than the blue but I can't remember!

Thanks very much bud. I rang them back up and they remembered who I was, despite talking to someone else this time around. I very specifically told them it was a lit pixel, and that it was pink. They asked me if it interfered with my general usage of the phone. I told them it didn't but it was annoying as I knew it was there. They said if the department deems this not to be a fault then they will charge me £12 to send the phone back to me.
I would have said yes it does interfere with the usage of the phone (unless its right at the edge of the screen). The nature of a smartphone is as such that you have use for every bit of screen real estate, and 1 pixel is of more importance on a a screen with 384,000 (Desire) than on a screen with 2 million (1080p tv).

Any suggestions? > http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=700218
Just got my Orange e-Bill. And I am not happy. £63.52! Just gave Orange a bollocking, they have ****ed it all up. I should be getting charged around £25-27 per month. But standard practice is to charge for 2 months at the start of the contract (would have been nice of them to tell me when I took the contract out). And Orange Care has been applied twice to my account, at £6 per month. When in fact I have it in writing (email) that it will be £1 per month for the first 18 months, and then £6 after that, not to mention that my first month is free, and my 10% discount doesn’t seem to have been applied properly.
Rang them after I got home from work, gave the woman a bollocking (which I later apologised for when she called back), she went away and chased the correct people for me. However, being a Friday afternoon and the World Cup. She was finding it very difficult to do anything, anyway she rang back. And she has escalated my problems to the Head of Sales, and the £1 per month offer doesn’t exist anymore. Hence why it wasn’t applied to my account, I argued the point that at the point of sale it was still “live”. She agreed, and said the Head of Sales would be able to override that for me.
Gonna find out on Monday (fingers crossed) if it has been sorted!
**** I need a beer.
How come on my HTC Desire i cant watch movies online or bbc i player and stuff, is it only me or everyone.
The HTC Desire does not have full flash 10, it only has Flash Lite. It plays some online flash content but not all, Soon there will hopefully be an update to Android 2.2 which gives full flash capability which you will then be able to watch streaming sites, play all flash games etc.

yaqub, get beebplayer, that'll let you watch iplayer stuff, although it's very patchy on anything less than an hsdpa connection.

If you want to save your contacts the phone can export them all to a single vcf which can then be imported into most Email/Organiser programs such as Outlook or Thunderbird.
People -> Menu -> Import/Export -> Export to SD Card
Make sure you are viewing the contacts you want to export.
