You guys should give Oxygen a try when you next get round to it. It's really good. Blindingly fast.

Set the ext4 partition to the recommended 1Gb, not as adventurous as you . I'm presuming like previous roms the swap should have been seen to 0Mb??

Yeah it's just 2 partitions required so it's quite simple - over 2gb is the danger zone btw other than that and yer aiight.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Not come across this data2sd before, so this is quite interesting - still havent flashed to a custom ROM but will have to look into this, as the internal storage is woeful. How does this effect when you mount the SD card as a harddrive then? Just wondering it would be dealt with gracefully or not.

It's better than app2sd - with app2sd the phone can't access apps stored on the memory card because it's the fat32 partition you 'mount' as a hard drive when linked to the PC (you notice this by your icons losing their image when the phone is mounted for example). With data2sd because it's only using the second ext4 partition the phone still has access to that, whilst the fat32 is available to the PC. So it's a minor plus. The other big one is that a fast memory card is faster than internal memory and thus you get an overall speed boost too (by 'shifting' internal memory). I did it purely because I ran out of space - and app2sd doesn't solve this because many (many) [many] apps host lots of data in internal memory.

There are even more complicated ways of doing things with 3 or four partitions but this strikes the right balance for me - it's stable and easy to setup.

Rooted mine recently. Certainly the thing to do. Made a good phone better in my opinion. Levels of customization are pretty awesome. Running CyanogenMod 6 bloody brilliant!!!

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

I've gone back to Leedroid now, it's only Froyo but I'm fed up of reboots on Gingerbread ROMS so hoping this helps. Also had very little install space with Gingerbread, probably as my card was setup for A2SD+ for Leedroid & not sure if it was compatible with others?

I need to find a decent kernel but for now have removed all bar 1 widget (Extended Controls) as I need it for wifi/brightness/flightmode - I'm hoping this helps with battery.

Just need to find a decent battery % mod that works well, although I'll not install yet as I'm trying to work out why my batt sucks SO much!

Standard Leedroid 2.3d A2SD, 512mb ext2 partition, radio 5.11.05.27 is how mine used to be set up and it gave excellent battery life. Now moved to data2sd to see how that works, battery life is still excellent though. I also have a nice little circle % mod I can send you if you like. Know exaxctly what you mean about Gingerbread reboots, if it helps any it happens on my Nexus S with both standard & modded roms so I thinks it's actually a problem with Gingerbread itself...infuriating!!

I'm back with LeeDroid now, but any of the replacements apps I tried for the HTC dialer didn't come close enough for me.

LeeDroid is very slow compared to Oxygen

In what way? I've used both but have to be honest and say I didn't really notice much (if any) difference. Maybe it's the data2SD and a class 10 SD card that helps? *shrug*

In every way, general UI responsiveness, boot times etc etc. Everything is slower. Not alot slower, but enough for me to notice.

I too have a Class 10 card. But not data2SD. Just standard A2SD+.
