Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

I've got this random reboot and loop issue on mine and its really racking me off.

HTC support haven't heard of it before apparently, but I think thats BS as the first thing the guy in the o2 store said was ok we can ship that off for you - it'll take anywhere between 5-15 WORKING days.

I was like ummm ok, can you give me a loaner? nope, we can't sorry.

Mine will reboot when its a website with heavy flash on it and ironically the navigation will cause the phone to instantly reboot and loop when it goes to display the map for the route - for those of you who have seen this reboot issue happen now and again can you try your navigation and enter a car route in and see if your's reboots?

Mine seems to be heat related for sure, and i suspect its part of that whole issue of dodgy motherboards on early models. (mine was a week after release model).

I had a issue like this when I had my Desire. It'd just reboot, not even come on, and then reboot again. Was running really hot. Mine was bought pretty much on release as well.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Well I got mine back from repair (less than 10 day turn around - impressive). It has a brand new IMEI number so clearly a new motherboard. I'm pretty sure HTC know about the issue and have a knew model board going back in the repaired unit. Everything I throw at it now (including the new N64 emu) won't make it fall over, the only issue I seem to be having is that now my Volume down button is a little bit sticky, unsure whether it is related to the repair or just a coincidence.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Samsung Galaxy S II will have the dual core CPU. The new HTC lineup is pretty unimpressive TBH. The Desire S is basically the Desire with more internal storage. The fun thing about the Desire is so many community ROMS to choose from to give it a new lease of life. It also seems that newer HTC phones have been signed or encrypted to block community efforts, so will be harder to root and crack.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Mine has started restarting again over the last few days. This time though I suspect it is related to the broken volume down button. It restarts in to the recovery menu (Hboot - Clear Data etc.) and I cant choose any of the volume buttons unless I repeatedly press volume down. Eventually the menu selection starts moving up and down. I then have to take the battery out of the phone, leave it for approx 30 secs, put it back in, then start up. After this, as long as it doesn't crash or run out of battery it is ok, but having had a new motherboard in it (supposedly) It shouldn't be restarting at all IMHO...

As soon as I get back from Holiday I will be on the phone to HTC and I am actually going to try and get a new (or refurbed as new) handset instead, because before I sent it off to HTC, although it was crashing and restarting whenever I used 3G (not now), the volume down fault is equally annoying and didn't happen before!

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Finally rooted my Desire and put Cyanogen on last night. Really not convinced it's for me and I kind of miss the Sense UI already, it seems way more polished than Cyanogen.

I've seen lots of names of custom roms mentioned in this thread and equally lots of people say they like or dislike all of them!

Can I just put the HTC Desire rom back on? Me thinks I am going to have to just try everything to find an alternative.

Edit: Things I miss which I haven't really looked into for replacements (yet)
The FM Radio app doesn't work as well
    Can't find a good replacement time/weather widget
    HTC Calendar widget
The touch keyboard on the official desire rom is so much better.
The lock screen mechanism isn't as quick as the standard rom.

You tried Leedroid? For me that's the best sense ROM and i've stuck with it for ages now.
