Use MyBackup Root (it's free if you have your phone rooted). It's much better than Titanium when it comes to restoring market stuff: https://market.android.com/details?i...d.MyBackupRoot

I think you missed my point Josh

I wasn't implying that upgrading would cause any loss of features, but rather that I don't see anything that makes me feel like I'm missing out by not upgrading.

you better all hope that your's never goes wrong - they've had mine 9 days already and they have no idea when I can expect to get it back - I just have to keep waiting it seems - the tracking system for your repair is nigh on pointless - for me HTC needs to be investing some of these big bucks they keep boasting about into the infrastructure of the business - otherwise they could be heading for trouble...

yeah, very similar, but i feel oxygen is much more lean, and better.

also as for app2sd on oxygen it only moves part of the app to SD, dalvik cache remains on the internal memory which then fills up very quickly. a dalvikcache2sd script fixes this.

Being told it will be the end of the week at best now - thats 16 days if it arrives thursday - 21 if it comes after the bank holiday break.

I will NEVER buy another HTC device after this experience - as much as I don't favour the marketing-driven apple, the Iphone of a family member's phone broke on Saturday, he walked into an Apple shop and walked out with a brand new one there and then.

Thats how it should be, as soon as its tested faulty ship out a new one, not wait to repair it.

never ever again HTC - I'll be looking elsewhere for my next handset for sure...

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

I had the overheating / rebooting fault.

It took 7 days; door to door for it to be collected, the motherboard replaced and to reach my door. The seven days includes a weekend.

Couldn't have been happier with the support service. The phone call to log the issue took two minutes, the only problem was I only received one out of two emails but easy to sort.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

'apparently' they have a new repair center and they are having some teething issues - I wouldnt mind, but i dont have a spare smart phone hanging around so this is causing me a big ass inconvienience - I have four email accounts on the phone which I can't really do on the 5800 im currently having to use.

For me, if its such a known fault, it should be even more of a reason for direct swap out - tbh I am dreading getting it back too - I am very particular about its condition and its not likely to come back as good as it went...

Ah well, what's worse is its another week if it doesn't ship out of the repair center by weds due to the extended weekend...

7 day turn around for me too when my Desire died, had to return it some place in Milton Keynes if memory serves me right. Also if you had bought your iPhone through Voda yuo certainly wouldn't have got swapped out there and then.

Finally, when I did get my phone back I got back a different phone that had been fully refurbished and looked like new, certainly in better knick than the one I sent back. Couldn't have been happier with the service I got from HTC & would recommend them to any & everyone.

His iPhone was from o2, they told him they couldn't touch it and to go to the Apple store.

Anyway...looks like they have changed then, as mine went to Peterborough/Cambridge way - I find it interesting though, you got a 7 day turnaround, but you yourself say you got back a completely different phone, which means they used to do what im suggesting, diagnose faulty, replace with refurbished - now they seem to be repairing and making the consumer wait.

So if they had done for me what they did for you, I would be as happy as you for sure - but when I'm being made to wait due to a repair center teething issue that really irritates me.

....and the tracking system is awful, just plain awful.

getting a bit annoyed with the htc desire. too slugish and unresponsive on the keyboard once i load a few apps and widgets.

typing is rubbish in these phones and the iphones and ipods are a lot better and responsive. next time i will get a htc device with a proper keyboard. fedup of onscreen keyboards. there ****

LoL @ some of the people kicking their toys of out their proverbial prams.....

I made sure when mine first went off for repair that it was graded as a Priority 2 repair so the turnaround was higher. You gotta know how to play some of these companies to get the most out of them.

Mine has gone off again for repair because it was returned with faulty volume / search button and still having restarting issues.

I was, as you can imagine, not very impressed, but I know Electronics guarantees, what I should expect and how long things can take. I have got a guarantee that if it comes back from repair and there is ANY fault with it this time, I will get a replacement NEW handset (Desire S I guess) rather than a refurbish, as I kicked up a bit of a fuss about it being a known product fault and that I believe that the Desire does suffer from some inherent manufacturing faults.

Don't see my kicking and screaming on here though do you? Also I still believe that HTC handsets are generally well built, certainly better build quality than similar LG handsets, and as for iPhones, I know a ridiculous amount of people who have had faults with their iPhone 3 / 4s...

When did yours go in for repair and did it go to Peterborough/Stansted way for repair?

You might not be kicking off now, but after the call I just had from HTC where, and I quote the first thing she said was 'There is nothing we can do' you might be - HTC support cannot confirm or deny if ANY phones sent to them since April 1st have been returned to owners.

To all accounts the 'new repair center' apparently has issues, has done since it switched over on the 1st of April.

As of now, I am to wait till next Wednesday to contact them again, yes, 7 days - that will take it to over three weeks for a known design fault to be fixed.

Like I said to the woman on the phone, if they have process issues that isn't my problem, they keep refurb stock so send me a refurb and fix mine when you sort your process issues.

Btw, replacement is after 3 failed repairs, never sooner. And given the numbeer of Desire's that have the same initial design fault I would imagine there is plenty of stock, so you'll get the same model.

I know the processes of these companies too and the repairs that go on - but I need this phone for my work - without it my SLA's to the people I provide services too cannot be met - so maybe get some perspective in your LOL'ing...
Please do not message me about Scan Free shipping, I no longer work for HEXUS.net
