I've been using Oxygen since day one and I would say you're better off waiting for the nexus ota before moving from froyo

Not tried properly yet, on signup it asks you to choose the phone model, only the known supported ones show up.

Anyone having trouble with Swype on Gingerbread (Gingervillain ROM) ?

It works when tapping letter by letter but doing it the 'swype' way just makes the keyboard flash but nothing appears in the text field? A reboot sorts it but it soon starts doing it again

Is it a legit copy of Swype mate? If it is, try a complete clear out of Swype and do a fresh re-install of it.

Edit* And the Desire line has been "refreshed" and it is hugely disappointing

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Anyone else having the restart issue when browsing 3G and loading intensive sites? Seems a lot of people are experiencing it and mine seems to have gotten a lot worse this week, with restarts and three vibrations which supposidly means its overheating!

Have done a factory reset, and gunna leave off the Task Killer and see how it goes, if it still has issues, mine's gunna have to go to be repaired :'(

Real Shame as I love the phone and haven't had any other faults with it until the last couple of weeks.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Yep, I wondered if I was the only one. Random restarts usually when in the browser or when leaving it downloading now you mention it.

    Not overheating though I don't think... ?

Gingervillain 1.0, happened with 0.9 too.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

If you are using a custom rom then restarts are most likely caused by a bug in the rom. (there is even a bug in official android 2.3 that causes random restarts/bootloops... think it might be fixed in 2.3.3 though)

I had this on stock Froyo. If you change the keyboard input to the default, then back to swipe, it makes it work. Its a known issue. I don't know if that would work for a GB ROM though.

That looks pretty good, is it the Oxygen ROM by AdamG?
Have you customized it, or does it just look like that after flashing

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

can any 1 help i jsut got a htc desire.. and im already trying to load custom roms

now i thought it would be easy as i have done simular things on other handset/consoles etc... but ive hit a brick all (ive searched all over the net spent hours trying to find the answers)

i followed a guide that used unrevoked3 which installed went through no problem.. i have superuser on my apps list.

by using unrevoked3 it installed 2.5.0.7, which is the recovery (please correct me if im wrong tyring to get the terminologies)

i can access clockwork by powering down my handset - power on then go to recovery it then loads up clockwork - so far so good i think?

now when i load clockwork i get this msg at the bottom of screen

    ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.7
    E:Can't find MISC:
    E:Can't find CACHE:recovery/command
    E:Can't find MISC:
    E:Can't find CACHE:recovery/log
    E:Can't find MISC:

is this normal??? i dont think it is,

now from here ive tired putting a rom (zip) on going to install from sd. no joy!
ive tired going back in to normal os and downloading - rom manager - to install but all it does is bring me back to the clockworkmod screen as above...

this is a brand new htc running the newest stock version of froyo.. 2.29.405.2

can any 1 help what have i done wrong - everyone says it easy.. lol

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

minor update but i managed to simunlock, root and load my gf wildfire all within 30mins using the methood above.

i did notice 1 difference when when running unrevloked, on hers it said had an extra step right at the end (somthing to do with the sd card?) so i dont think mine rooted properly..

could some 1 with a rooted desire link/email me the actual files they used?
