There is a space on the board for a Firewire controller and port. I wonder why Abit decided not to integrate it, since all the other 650i boards sport 1394?

Anyway, arguing over specifications that were well known at the time of purchase isn't my point here. I still haven't heard back from Komplett.

"We will reply to your request within 24 hrs (Mon-Fri)" ... Really, since it's been 2 working days since I sent them email now...

Not happy now, since it looks like I'm sitting on a lemon and nobody cares. I think I'll just buy the cheapest 680i reference board I can and pursue this one afterwards because my main rig is practically unusable at the moment (well, the mouse and keyboard keep disappearing mid sentence!) and my other 775 board doesn't support SLi.

I sent it to technical@abitcomputer.co.uk, Sean said the same a few posts down. Maybe they didn't get it? Anyway, I don't really want to RMA it only to get another FP-IN9 since they seem to be a 'lemon' on the whole, so it's got to be through the retailer to get a different board.

    semi-happy

running quad core extreme 6700 on a abit in9 650i sli.
I had to buy a temp board, while my **** asus striker extreme is rma'd.
abit board costs 3x less and gave me 20x less pain.
I swear no more asus ever again. support? what support?
The other calls itself a tweaker board lol... u guys wouldnt believe the probs it has. its a board from hell. and dats not in a kinky good way...
anyway, i was expecting a tad more from the abit650i. the bus speeds are quite limited here (even increasing vtt and nb voltages) i get to a stable 340 which i cant get over without probs starting.

www slibe com/image/25ef0fa6-Sliber/ <cpuz details (sorry i cant paste urls grrr)

this cpu does around 3.7 max on air. on the abit im at 340x10 which is a very low bus for what i was used to on the striker.
    using bios12 from abit site.

my mem is gskill6400 at 2.1v for stableness (on the striker i used 2,4v pc-10000 which as many know by know will lead to probs in the long run with 680i).

can anyone mail me this betabios? i wanna see if i can get better bus on quadcore with it (on striker i can run 450 with it, easy).
contact me on wii guru@gmail com (fill blanks with dots)

also wonder why after a cold boot, the board usually reboots itself on post or on first windows bootup. then reboots and runs solid for days and days...
very weird. anyone knows why? runs vista and xpsp2 with loads of games just fine.

You have to bare in mind, that I only played with the board for a short hour on first receiving this board,so I posted not a review not really results but what I saw at that time. Which was about an hours worth of use. The next day after the posting on this forum, and apon playing a little more with this board, I noticed that the same overclocks I achieved the time before would no longer work, and thats where I encountered more problems. So I apologise for 'jumping the gun' slightly however in the beginning of this thread, however I was one of the first to confirm these problems. Bascially the boards itsself is excellent and is marred only by an immature BIOS. I have been working with abit on other projects, as well as this one. THe bios for this board is getting a little better each time. Granted it should have been on the ball onthe first go, but I still have this board aNd will review it once a deceNt oc bios comes out (after parts 2 and 3 ofthe Fatal1ty F-I90HD board review comes out)

So basically I will not give a informal opinion on anyboard in future until I have had the chance to review and 'overclock' the board on a formal basis.

    Apologies for any misunderstandings caused

    What to do now?

I got a reply from Komplett as follows:

    Dear Sir,

Ok, simply apply for an rma per instructions below and make sure you mention you want a refund. It'll be approved by our returns department.

We can take it back for testing. If the item is confirmed defective by our test engineers, it will be replaced, otherwise if tested OK will be returned. You can apply for an RMA in your account.

    1. Access your account
    2. Find the relevant order by using the search feature (in the "Account" section) and click the the ordernumber.
    3. In the top right corner you can choose between "Return an item" and "Cooling off".
    4. Choose how many of the item you are returning and click "Continue with selected items".
    5. Choose a reason for return and fill in the error description (making sure to include any correspondence you may have had previously)
    6. Please also fill in the Auto Reply Tracking number if you have been in email-correspondence with us on this issue.
    7. Click "Apply for return authorization".

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards,

Not very useful when I said the following in my email to them:

don't have the patience to wait for Abit's BIOS engineers to sort out
the bugs. I fear RMA'ing the board because there's a large chance it
wouldn't decide to act up as described when under testing,
so I'm not sure what to
do. I appreciate that I should probably have returned the board within
the 14-day cooling off period, but I genuinely assumed that since so
many people we having similar issues with the board that it was probably
only a matter of time before Abit sorted out the bugs. It is clear that
    this is not the case.
I'm not sure whether the part below the paragraph about applying for an RMA and asking for a refund is standard copy-n-paste blurb and that my case has already been escalated to a point where they intend to give me a refund even if the board does test out 'ok' (I'd like to know what they define OK as...) since I also notice that the obviously standard text printed below also mentions nothing about a refund, only a replacement...

Anybody have any experience with Komplett's RMA serivce or know what this really means? I wouldn't ask here, except the Komplett.support forum seems to have disappeared and I don't want to pay to post the board and be without my machine for weeks only to have it sent straight back to me.

Gilgamesh, thanks for both replies (the one above and the one I didn't quote here, too long). I understand why you believe you should be more reluctant in giving such "informals" ahead of the final testing. I also believe you shouldn't be. Its very much all right for anyone to post an opinion, as you did. Atfer all it is up to us checking it further and taking our own decision. I was asking you about fp-in9 since you've mentioned that you would test the board at some time. Well, for some reasons I needed to make a decision quick, in fact by... yesterday and I went for the Gigabyte P35-DS4. Unfortunately can't properly test it right now. Never...the...less, probably my next MB will be an Abit.

To be honest that is what its all about, you get what you need at that moment understan perfectly. i believe in a couple of more BIOS updates the 650 FP-IN9SLI will be a great board, just a Matter of getting that BIOS right.

I still have the board on the shelf ready for testing, im busy completing quadcore test results and vista test results at the moment, for the IN90HD. I can say this however, when a addon GPU is installed then under games ONLY it comes VERY CLOSE to the expensive IN932MAX. Obviously between a £70 board and a 250£ board I need plenty of evidence to backup my claim. This weekend I will be heavily benchmarking for OCZ , then comes the IP35 PRO, as this is Intel's new chipset this takes priority. I also mentioned that when abit produce a viable BIOS for the FP-IN9SLI, then I will review it to gave everyone a fair chance.

When I get the IP35 Pro board I will post a few screenies and INITIAL THOUGHTS only, not a full reivew so long as everyone understands this. When the board as been tested fully ONLY then will I post a review.

    thanks for you time

not your fault about the early opinion gilgamesh mate

we all gave you a nudge (especially me) to get some early info on it

and tbh as long as you arent looking for super high clocks this is a pretty good board mine runs stable 24-7 at 350fsb without any increase in voltage except on the cpu

and generally performance with my 8800 and memory is good

we just need a few more tweaks and she will be a killer board

also most of us knew there would be early problems with it looking at the 680 boards they were useless for quite a while

you'll find it in the beta BIOS sticky on the abit-USA forums.
afaik you shouldn't have too many problems getting 3.0GHz+ even on the IN9 SLI with the 9x multi of the E6600 but later C2Ds haven't been clocking as well as earlier.
have you maxed your mch voltage as most 650is seem to need ~1.6V or more for high fsb?
