That sucks. Did you deliver anything to Tsu? Too late if not, looks like the goal completed ahead of schedule.

There is another one that looks easy for delivering metals to Kwatee. Currently a minimum reward of 20,000cr which isn't so brilliant, but looks like it times out tomorrow with little chance of completing beforehand and you only have to shift a single tonne of metal there to get the 20K payout.

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

Nope, although I wouldn't have made it anyway since I needed an upgraded FSD. The Kwatee one requires a permit for the system I think.. (edit: nope...no permits required. wires / crossed)

There will be more. I am still heading to Tsu though and exploring on the way, by the time I get there in 15 jumps time I should have enough data to sell for an Adder + upgrades / ins. Hopeful Specs

I tried bounty hunting at the Frigaha RES last night and spent 20 mins taking on a Master Cobra... barely dented him. Won by fluke as he flew into a rock! Worse is the bounty was only worth 3.5k credits! It was a mad fight though.... he almost had me so many times, my sideys manoeuvrability won out by dog fighting between the rocks in the end.

Interesting will go take a look later. The other bounty hunting one looks like it requires a permit and I don't have an empire rank yet, so no chance for me there.

I spent over an hour mining yesterday, pathetic return for the time and investment again. Perhaps when the Painite goes live in 1.3 it will be worth doing.

Hope the Adder works out, don't think I have tried that ship yet.

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

My mistake, no permits are required for that one.

The adder is for a base explorer / trader. I want to try travelling and may as well do a few rare circuits too. And it's a tad more fun to play with than the hauler.

That blows, what site were you mining at? The painite should be good. Is it going to be a player-mined exclusive material? That should make it a bit more valueable...

Not all the details are revealed yet, but it sounds like you can currently get the stuff as illegal goods from piracy of NPCs but in 1.3 will be available to mine.

I was in Bhutas system, a Pristine resources metallic ring. Next time I will try pristine metal, which is obviously completely different from metallic

The Hauler reminds me of a Transit van. A good workhorse but not very aspirational.

    " Dev Update - 09.04.2015
    Hi everyone,

First, I want to thank everyone who helped make our game the number one bestseller on Steam, and to all our players who helped welcome new Commanders into the community. We’re working hard on the game, and it’s great for the team to see so much passion from players.

For those of you who already own Elite: Dangerous from our store and asked about getting the game in your Steam collection: we hear you and we’re looking into it. We can’t speak for other cases where the same question has come up, but turning EliteDangerous.com customers into Steam customers unfortunately isn't 100 percent our decision and isn’t free for us in the context of the game’s ongoing growth and development. It could take a few weeks to work through, but we hear your feedback and addressing it is a priority for all of us.

For the Mac beta we’ve been receiving some excellent feedback, so as always, thanks to you all for that. A new Mac beta client will be released early next week.

Looking further ahead we have the Powerplay update, the big announcement is still a couple of weeks away but I can reveal a bit more of what will form part of the wider update and that is a major overhaul for the missions system. This isn’t directly part of the new Powerplay feature, but does supplement it. We’ve been working on this since the game’s initial release to provide us with a mission system that will support the game as we keep adding new features and content and improve your experience with all missions.

We’ve focused on a few clear goals for this revamp. The first is being able to provide a wider range of missions and in a method we can easily add to and increase variation within the mission type. We’re also adding the ability to select mission locations and targets (where applicable) in the galaxy and system map. Greater use of the player inbox will be used to support mission branches, making them easier to manage.

One of the limitations of the current system is that missions tended to be a good option for starting players, but not so much for later on in the game. The overhaul will address this issue by making missions available for more experienced players as well as specific missions for higher ranks or status – such as being a Founder level member. The system will also expand the influence of reputation on missions to reward players who build a high reputation with minor factions.

As with any major update we will take the opportunity to add some incidental improvements to the game. One such improvement is that the maximum loan value for ship rebuys will scale according to your Pilots Federation ranking, allowing a greater safety net as you progress through the game. For ship customisation you will also be able to fit more than one fuel tank to your ship – although this obviously takes up space you could have used on other modules!

    Thanks!

    Michael"

Congrats! I remember getting my first Hauler, such an upgrade over the sidey. My first rares runs were really slow though but thankfully made enough to upgrade to A class FSD pretty quickly. The upgrade made rares runs worth doing though.

Have you seen how rares runs work? You need to sell them at least 160ly from where you bought them to get the full price.

(Apologies if you already knew that).

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

Busy doing rares from the Lave to Fujin areas. Got the almost max FSD with a ~16ly jump range and it still take a long time. But the ~300k a trip makes it worth while.

Give me a few more hours and I'll have the beast FSD for my cobra which should makes things a little easier.

With a small/medium cargo hold it can be very profitable. In the type 7 I don't bother because you can only buy a few tonnes of rares from a station so the hold would be empty. Rares turn up in a different colour in the market so easy to spot.

    You can probably do:

Leesti - George Lucas: Leesian Evil Juice (14t) & Azure Milk (7t)

    to

Bast - Hart Station: Bast Snake Gin (10t)
Zeessze - Nicollier Hanger: Zeessze Ant Grub Glue (18t)

    and back

Those tonnage figures are the maximum you can get, and you might find there isn't enough there to fill your hold. Either go on http://www.elitetradingtool.co.uk/ to find another nearby station with rares or go make some tea and see if more pop up

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

Don't do the rare runs whilst playing in "Open"; those stations are usually a hotbed for griefers.

If you're going to do trade runs, remove your weapons as it'll make the ship lighter and therefore able to jump a bit further. If you get interdicted by an NPC, submit, boost away and re-enter supercruise without too much difficulty. Since you have to jump a fair way, keep an eye on your fuel and make sure you know where you can refuel. Something else the trading tool website is good for is finding out how far away a station is in a system before you get there. Anything more than 2000ls away is going to take some time to get to.

I have just made 200k cr in a few hours through bounty hunting. In the Sidewinder, that took days / weeks lol.

Instead of hiding from combat, I know look forward to it. Gimballed weapons make all the difference!

One thing I have not traded in is rare commodities.
I was doing 120t of items between 2 stations 27ly apart and getting about 350k per run. With 2 jumps to reach the station.

Not bad. Averaging about a 1m an hour.

    Re: Elite : Dangerous

As mentioned above, once you get to a T6 with 100T cargo, you're better off doing normal trade runs. The Cobra is probably the optminal ship for rares, with it's good range and cargo, although the Adder is pretty good as you can get 20ly+ range but the cargo is limited to 22T (down-grade to a Class 2 shield for the extra cargo).
