RESes at various locations depending on where my Wing last ended up, though I don't often remember the names as I move on after about a week. I've been around the likes of Zaonce, Esumindii, Aiabiko and a bunch of systems with easily-memorised names like "LP-98-432-A 1-23-766786 Jiggery-26-B3"...!!!
RESes tend to get me anything between 70k and up to 500k on a good day. It all depends on what spawns. If I get a bad session, it'll be full of Adders, Eagles and Sideys, where the best I can hope for is usually a Cobra III that might fetch a whole 26k for my efforts. Then again, same RES, different trip might see me with several Anacondas, Clippers and Dropships showing up, all of which my kitted Asp just goes up to and punches in the face!!
Best I've managed is almost half a mil, but it's so inconsistent.
I actually get far better odds either from conflict zones, or from hitting up a Strong Signal Source and blatting the 3 Elite Anacondas that come an' 'ave a go coz they fink they're 'ard enuff!!
By contrast, I'm now trading at a consistent 1.7m/hr or 200k every 7-ish minutes.
You're doing it wrong...
If you go into a Res and not seeing Python/anaconda/drop ship/clipper simply save and exit to main menu. Go back in and get a fresh instance. Rinse and repeat till you get a good en, then laugh as you make about 1.5 mil an hour. Worked for me

What Lowe said - you'll be killing a constant stream of Anaconda/Python/Clipper/dropship at an average bounty of roughly 100k

Not played since GTA came out. Starting to miss it now. Overtime is getting in the way too.
It's a bit naughty I know. But, I have limited play time due to having a life haha. This way it's pretty efficient.
That said, RES bashing whilst making plenty of cash doesn't really boost your combat rank since the majority of foes are pretty noobish. You gain rank quicker by taking on bigger and more skilled opponents from what I understand, so conflict zones are better for ranking up.
Not naughty, just poor game design if that's the way you're having fun (and it sounds like a way most people will have fun). Too many people think that that kind of thing is an exploit, but people wouldn't do it if it wasn't a more fun way of playing, the real solution is to make the game more fun without having to do that. (A good counter argument is to say the game is more fun in the unforeseeable long run without you getting high bounty each time - in which it'd be valid to run a simple time based seed rather than reseting random seed when logging in/out).
Funny you should mention about bounties increasing with time spent in a zone. I swear a month or so ago I was in a combat zone for a good while and after a certain amount of kills the ship bounties doubled for all types of ships (sindwinder became 4k / cobra become 16k etc.) Only ever exerienced it this one time, anyone else aware of that being built into the game or had it happen themselves?
Yeh, I do this. A lot. In Solo and Online.
It often takes a good while getting any to even spawn and the bounties vary wildly. 25k-70k seems to be the usual range, no matter which RES I am at. By the time I get some of these things to simply turn up, I could have made something like 800K from trading.
I had one session where quite a few came along, but that was a rarity.
It does tend to depend on the system I've found, some are more lucrative than others.
Not found a single one that consistently earns me more profit/hr than my rather mediocre trading route...
I'm quite happy to find one of my trade systems in the middle of a Civil War right now, though - A choice between activities, both within 3 mins travel of my base station!!
Time spent getting to the RES(and back, if you happen to shoot a cop) also affects profitability - Apam Napat is a great system with a platform right next to the RES(and also seems to produce the big ship spawning res with very little relogging effort)

Been messing about with Powerplay in the Beta and trying out some Community Goals...
Powerplay looks like a complicated version of the old Freelancer relationships, but with a lot more of the background information supplied.
Not much a fan of taking sides myself and I always played Freelancer with Neutral Rep.
No idea what sort of bonuses each faction alignment
Got interdicted by an Elite Anaconda while bimbling about and before I knew it, I was space dust... seems there's something I missed on my power percentages and I suddenly lost all power to everything - Absolutely the LAST thing I needed with that kind of foe around - Not sure what I've done, though, as I've not changed anything and could previously hammer the heck out of anything that moved!
Got a few mil out of the Community goal. That's another that's supposed to have other 'rewards', but again not sure what they're supposed to be...
