Still can't find a dock with decent reviews![]()
I've got a small problem...
Basically I want to export my contacts on to my PC, and edit them there, then shift them back onto my phone.
Just to add pictures/emails and rename/delete some. I know I could do it on the phone but it'll be a lot easier to do on the PC. Anyway of doing this?
edit : I don't want to use GMail - I'd rather not have all these random email contacts on my phone.
I'm sure there's an option to just sync those in address book or something. If all else fails, I think there's another option to only show people that have a phone number in the contact.
As I'm back on my Nexus One, I'd need someone else with a Desire to check this...
So I think I will cave in and get one. This is the plan:
Either
Mobilephonesdirect, T-Mobile, £25/month for 18 months, free phone, 300 mins, unlimited internet, £30 quidco = £420 total cost or £23.33/month for 18 months.
OR
Phone4u, Vodafone, £40/month for 12 months, free phone, 300 mins, unlimited internet, 6 months cashback by redemption, £35 quidco = £325 total cost or £27.08/month for 12 months.
Will probably go with the deal from mobilephonesdirect since I can't be arsed to do this cashback nonsense again.
Then I will switch my O2 to simplicity 12m, £15/month, 300 mins, unlimited internet/wifi (not sure how good the wifi service is, but since I spend most of my time in central london, I can imagine that it will be useful).
Give new contract + old HTC HD to my dad. Keep O2 contract + Desire for myself
Hopefully, the AMOLED screen will be nice enough to compensate the smaller screen size!
Is this phone unlocked by default?
Edit: Seems T-Mobile locks and Vodafone doesn't. Looks like I am going to get the voda one then!

Don't use them IMO, I know others that have had hassle. If anything goes wrong, you're screwed. At least P4U are a big company with a high-street presence.
Phones4u might be cashback over a period, but they are reliable for it (and have a 60 day window for claims, not exactly small!).

Thanks Agent. Plus T-Mob is locked and Voda isn't, so will go for phones4u (which also has bad ratings on that site lol)
Anyone tried rooting their device yet?
I never checked P4U on that site, lol
All I can say is that I've used P4U a few times and had no issues. My Voda also isn't locked, and has a low bootloader so rooting shouldn't be a problem.
I've been reading through http://android.modaco.com/content/ht...-1-21-support/ and it looks very promising.
I was planning on waiting until there's a more definite guide to what happens if you need to put back Orange's stuff on it.
I've rooted a Desire and a Legend using this method -

I read in one thread the new method's a little dangerous?
Has anyone tried any of the FLAC players?
Think my Desire may have a dead pixel. I am not impressed.
Same as dilemma as me mate. Luckily I use my @hotmail.com and my @gmail.com is just a spare inbox I keep around. Nothing important in there. So I deleted everything (contact wise) and manage everything from there now. It's awesome.
I haven't rooted it, but I have flashed it to a generic ROM, and got rid of all the Orange crap.
Also, we need more pictures peoples...
