Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

I tried launcher pro, really wasn't impressed, not sure what others are seeing but Sense works fine for me. Do you have a ton of shortcuts/etc (I've only got 3 screens populated)

Other than the HTC widgets, in no way is sense as good as launcher pro... just look at the features available in LP (icons at bottom, 5 x 5 (or 4 can't remember) grid, etc) and the amount of resources/battery that sense consumes! HTC only wins in one area - looks... and come on Rob, you should know by now, just trying something like this is not enough to form a decent opinion, you have to live with it for a little while and tweak/configure it first. If you just "tried" android without making the commitment, you wouldn't have been convinced of it's superiority over iOS!

Edit: D'oh, didn't back up my tasker profiles/tasks, so have to nandroid back to sense for now...

    HTC Mail app

Anyone else connecting to an Exchange server with the HTC mail app?

I routinely get duplicated messages in my Inbox, but it's only with my Desire, it doesn't happen in Outlook or OWA, so it isn't an Exchange problem. I think it happens when a sync fails for some reason (probably loosing signal when it is in my pocket in low signal areas).

Is this a widely known issue? Any easy fixes?

I have taken to deleting and then re-adding the exchange account every now and then to force it to re-sync completely. The problem just re-occurs shortly after. I wouldn't normally bother about it, but it usually ends up with a bunch of "unread" emails as the duplicates, so the unread total in the green bubble is usually off.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

I know that i sound like a broken record but bare with me for a bit.

to get froyo up and running on my device do i first root my device using that one click website(cant find the link anymore?) and then download whatever rom and compatible radio and just install it on my desire?

do i need to first make my htc desire unlocked/sim free?

If you just want Froyo do an OTA update, and thats it.

If you want a custom ROM.

    Then..

    1) Unlock your device
    2) Root your device using Unrevoked
    3) Download the required radio needed, and flash it
    4) Download whatever custom ROM you want, and flash it
    5) Done

You can keep on asking questions, and reading up on it. But you need to take the plunge and do it now, otherwise you'll never do it. If you are scared you'll brick your device, then don't do it at all.

    Do it!!

It really is that simple, root, stick a couple of zips on your sdcard, reboot a few times et voila!

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

    Hmm...

Went to change my wallpaper to a HTC one (still image not live) When selecting menu from the homescreen to do it that way & choosing HTC Wallpapers I get a black screen with the 'set wallpaper' button, clicking this tells me there is 'no wallpaper'

I can't choose any of the stock wallpapers although I've verified they are in system/summat/resources
I can select live wallpapers fine.
I can set my own images fine
I can set a HTC wallpaper fine if I navigate there using a file manager, open as image then choose the 'set as' button.
Wallpapers do not appear in my gallery under the usual 'wallpapers' folder (I'm 90% sure there was one before?)

    Any ideas?

Also anyone tried Leedroid 1.9 yet?

Well I just went for it, nice R2D2 boot sound, hope I can turn that off! Keeps looping between that & the 'leedroid mod (froyo)' screen though, time for a wipe!

EDIT: No wipe needed, pulled the batt, rebooted (and waited for ages again) and it's booted fine. Time to play!

Seems ok, few things force close when opening, just uninstalled them
