been waiting ages for 2.2!
cant wait for it to be released as i didnt really want to flash my phone but the inability to install apps to sd really cripples the amount you can have on the phone, so annoying! other than that ive been using my desire for a few months and its easily the best phone ive had! camera is pants though

Not going down the root path, no need. Im not there where I had to mod my N97 to get the latest update.
Saw this on xda-dev yesterday... but this still didn't convince me to root/flash, still see no real need as I have enough space for my apps and don't mind waiting a couple of months for froyo...
Yeah I'm not seeing anything that makes me want to root as a jailbreak did with my iPhone, no 'must have' apps.
Yeah Android is fine for me as it is, any updates are a no more than a welcome bonus. Saying that now that i know whats coming I wish HTC would hurry up
Just rooted my HTC Desire <3. Got the official 2.2 ROM on there now with HTC Sense.

No it is the official 2.2 ROMIf it is the real official rom, why do you need to root to install it?

As is said in that thread, it's not the official one, it's based on a Hong Kong test release. Still, if I had a Desire and needed Sense UI, I'd be running it
Anyone tried swifkey? I really like the wasy it works but it seems to lag when using it in a browser

Does unrevoked allow a non HTC custom image to be flashed, or is it still 'locked' to them?
Unrevoked doesn't do anything other than root your phone mate. Rooting and flashing are two very different things. Once you root it, you should be able to flash whatever you want on it. What ROM are you thinking about flashing?
Yep, I understand the difference between rooting and flashing, but the Desire has some additional protection that means you couldn't just load a custom ROM onto it. Just wondering if this had been managed yet. As this ROM is derived from a offical HTC one, I'm assuming not atm.
