    I got my Desire today!

It is on Orange, and so has a bunch of Orange-branded stuff. I'm going to flash LeeDroid or OpenDesire tonight and have a play I think! Just gotta' read up on it all before I dive in!

lol i will only flash 2.0b if it has significant improvements.

What do u use to backup and restore your apps and data? titanium backup?

Another question, how do you sync your gmail periodically i.e. once an hour? in the accounts and sync settings there is no option to specify the intervals.

Its killing my battery life so bad that i have to turn off 3g internet altogether to make it last a day without charging.

Battery life on the Desire is fairly abismal, get used to it. Mine (and any phone I've ever owned) sits on charge overnight on the bedside table and then it's plugged into the USB on my PC at work if I've been hammering it.

On the mail widget, press the 'inbox' button (the one with three horizontal lines). Now press MENU, select 'more', and then 'settings' and lo - this is where you change the time between syncs. (or 'download frequency')

I've had the desire since release and I can honestly say the way to go is MoDaCo r9 WIP custom froyo ROM, it does require you to root the phone (which you should be looking to do anyway )

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Yep, rooted and flashed LeeDr0id at the mo.

Got the ClockWork Recovery thingy on the go too, but when I run it I get a black screen so I've just got to set a ROM to upgrade to in ROM Manager and let it do its thing and wait until the screen comes back on! I'll check out that ROM though, cheers!

Don't think it is POP, no...

In other news, I have been playing about with different bootscreens. Good fun!

I just wish Leedroid would get rid of the R2D2 noise, annoys me no end....I know it's possible to get rid of it but it looked like a bit of hacking about when I looked into it & couldn't be bothered

Might have to look at the Modaco ROM when Leedroid 2.0b is out to compare the two, I just want a stripped down ROM!

Anyone else have isues with facebook for sense when running leedroid/launcher pro (not sure what is the issue?) Continually seems to be syncing unless I force stop it, it then starts again a few mins later but doesnt actually sync anything apart from the odd status but no contact images or most status updates...? Cos I'm using launcher pro? Tried to run with sense to sync (then was going to turn it off) but that didn't do anything.

Download the app Android Mate (it's like Root Explorer but freeeeeee!). Navigate to /data/local/ and delete android_audio.mp3

I made the mistake of installing LeeDroid v2.0 as it is. I forgot to remove the crap I didn't want. I'll do it next time when v2.0b gets released.

I think Lee himself is planning a stripped down version of his ROM too.
