Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

I rooted and updated to one of the 2.2 builds when they first appeared and have to say I didn't notice any speed increases.

Some very handy features such as being able to rotate the screen right instead of only to the left.

However I've been having problems with it restarting when watching flash within the default browser. It's happened a few times using the youtube program as well so I'll be starting from scratch again shortly.

    S-off ?

EDIT: Meh, could be useful I guess but not being part of the scene I find it difficult to get excited about it

Read the thread, it's all explained. It's only seven pages long. And the first post has been updated to explain it as well.

With all this news about so called expert phone providers bodging their updates to 2.2 I reckon your better off rooting the devices and installing it yourself at this rate

I'm waiting for the virgin update myself but might just root it later and whack 2.2 on.

What's the worst that can happen, I can't bodge it any worse than what O2 and Vodafone have done with their rollouts

Meh, rooted within 1 month of getting the phone, and never looked back. DO IT!

    undervolt kernel patch

Interesting....in the stock ROM thread on XDA Dev it says to not use this + SetCPU together, looks like the undervolting might not be totally stable yet. Looking forward to a more stable version to run alongside setCPU, should help quite a bit with the battery saving front!

Pretty much where I'm at myself.

If the OTA update comes within the month, good, if it's delayed again, sod it - I'll root and stop fannying around whining about it all.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

For all you good people who have unbranded non rooted phones, there is an OTA update for FroYo which takes the build to 2.10.405.2 and fixes a few things.

Re: The Official HTC Desire Thread

Should get my replacement Desire Monday, probably end up with an SLCD one so will perhaps do a comparison

Just tried Leedroid 2.0c (non A2SD+ version), lost my root/superuser so had to go back to 1.9 (not got any others saved) I'm not the only person with this problem but no answer I can find just yet!

Can use A2SD+ as not got a card reader to partition my card with

I bought one of these a while back and I use it daily.

    May be cheaper elsewhere

If you can get a hold of v2.0a, thats the version I am using. I'm skipping the upgrade to v2.0b and v2.0c as a lot of people are having problems with them.
